Tate Modern beckoning

Overlapping here with the Art Deco exhibition, the Beckmann exhibition at Tate Modern will reveal the murkier, gloomy and claustrophobic world-weariness of Germany in a time of uncertainty and growing depression. What the Tate team will excel at will be analysing the inspiration and achievements of Beckmann, the spiritual and intellectual roots that developed, in turn, to a critique of so-called decadent art in the following decades by Germany's new rulers. The exhibition runs from 13 February through 5 May. The exhibition will be reviewed here in late February.
