This month, Richard Demarco reports here on a dramatic return visit to the Poland of Stanislawski, Borowski, and Kantor. Holder now of the Gold Order of Merit, Demarco is at last reaping the harvest of long years of travail and courage when he provided a key lifeline to the talented contemporary Polish art world of the 1960s and 1970s. He flew quietly into Poland on 13th February to begin negotiations at Museum Sztuki, Lodz, with Director Miroslaw Borusiewicz, to bring a comprehensive exhibition to the Edinburgh Festival (which still includes the visual arts). This covers the achievement of Stanislawski and the Museum over the quarter century of his leadership, from 1965—1990. (See Richard Demarco, Letter from Poland).
