Turner Prize 2002

h1>

As rumoured, Madonna really will be presenting the 2001 Turner Prize on 9 December in London. This is an amazing coup for the organisers. ‘La Ciccione’ is the perfect choice for an award now saturated with popular culture. Short-listed artists include Richard Billingham, documentative photographer of social dilemmas; Mike Nelson, constructor of emotive architectural environments, Martin Creed; crumpler of paper balls and sculptor with a use for Blu-Tac and Isaac Julien, somewhat the oldest of the four contestants, the much vaunted film-maker and video artist. Studio International’s current odds on Julien winning stand firm at 7:4.
